A local workshop for the disabled has benefited from the success of a popular model engineering exhibition.
Special Objectives for the Local Disabled (S.O.L.D.) - based on the South Lowestoft Industrial Estate - offers disabled people access to a workshop environment. Service users are able to use facilities including a wood workshop, computer room and greenhouse.
Kevin Rackham, chairman of the Lowestoft Model Engineering and Model Making Exhibition's (LOWMEX) committee, presented a cheque for £485.57 to Mat Parker, manager of S.O.L.D.
The two-day exhibition is organised annually by the Halesworth & District Model Engineering Society, and was enjoyed at Ormiston Denes Academy by over 1000 people.
'We are pleased to continue supporting S.O.L.D,' said Mr Rackham.
'They encourage people less able than ourselves to get back into a workshop and produce quality items that give personal satisfaction to others, something that is akin to what we try to do in our own society.'
