A Lowestoft holiday park has announced it will extend their season by an extra two months following a “deluge of demand” for staycations.

Instead of closing as usual after the October half-term, Broadland Sands Holiday Park will continue welcoming guests until the week before Christmas.

Operator Park Holidays UK say the move has been triggered following the increased demand for staycations, which show no signs of slowing down, with many overseas holiday hotspots facing constant reviews amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Director Tony Clish said: “By keeping some of our parks open through November and December, we’ll be able to provide the breaks which so many people feel they desperately need.

“From what we’ve seen so far, winter weekends are proving especially popular with families with children and weekday stays are being booked largely by couples seeking a relaxed break in quiet surroundings.

“Although many of our facilities won’t be opening, and others will be operating on reduced hours, winter can be a fantastic time for a cosy break and to top up the batteries.

“Roads, towns and visitor attractions are less busy and you can enjoy beautiful coast and countryside walks with the feeling you’ve got it all to yourself.

“Visits could be timed to take in a village bonfire party, to visit nearby family or friends, to see a show, or to get in some stress-free Christmas shopping.

“I think this move will also be welcomed by the many local businesses which rely on tourism spending, and which suffered a severe loss of income during the lockdown period.”

Cartlon Meres Holiday Park, near Saxmundham, will also be extending their season this year.

Off-season prices will apply during November and December, with accomodation available in luxury lodges and premium-grade holiday caravans.

The two Suffolk sites were set for a record year in 2019 after a multi-million pound upgrade, with a £1.6m swimming pool and 45-metre flume, paddling pool, dinosaur-themed adventure golf course and climbing wall installed at the Lowestoft camp.
