The future of RAF Marham looked more secure this evening after it emerged it could become the sole home for Tornado fighter/bombers.
Leaked documents suggest that the Tornado presence at RAF Lossiemouth in Scotland is likely to be phased out over the next year and that its fighters will be moved to RAF Marham, where four squadrons - about half of the Tornado force - are already based.
The papers were seen by the SNP member for Moray, Angus Robertson, but the Ministry of Defence has said no final decision has been made.
Mr Robertson said the document seemed to reflect internal MoD thinking that the fleet would be 'centralised' at Marham by October 31 next year.
The Ministry of Defence said it did not comment on 'leaked documents.'
No-one from RAF Marham was available for comment this evening.
