A Norwich animal charity has rescued 16 dogs following a complaint of neglect.
The dogs and puppies, which were rescued by the RSPCA from a Norfolk home, are now in the care of the Norwich and Mid-Norfolk branch of the charity. The owner handed over the animals, as he was no longer able to provide the care, and pay for the veterinary treatment, that the animals so desperately needed.
Now the Barrack Street-based charity is working alongside inspectors to rehabilitate and rehome the animals.
The dogs themselves are a colourful array of crossbreed terriers, from Norfolk to Bedlington, and even a Jack Russell and whippet. Two of the animals are puppies, with one of them, Bryn, having already found a new home – the other is too young to be rehomed yet.
Danny Childs, the branch's dog behaviourist, said: 'The dogs are really lovely animals – they were a bit underweight and they are quite nervous at the moment, but with time and patience they will be great family pets. 'These dogs need to find homes where the new owners are willing to put in time to ensure that they reach their full potential.' People interested in adpoting an animal, or making a donation, can contact The Paws Centre on 01603 766001, open Tuesdays to Sundays, 11am-4pm or go online at www.rspcanorwich.org.
