Police are currently investigating a possible arson attack at a book shop in Halesworth town centre.
Officers also believe the property, in Thoroughfare, Halesworth, could have been burgled before it was set alight.
Firefighters were called to the incident at 6.50am after smoke was seen coming from the building.
It is understood the blaze started in the book shop next to David Patrick Newsagents.
A spokeswoman for Suffolk police said officers are on scene carrying out their investigations. 'We are treating it as a possible arson,' she continued. 'There is also a suggestion that there might have been a burglary before hand. It looks like potentially there were some items stolen.'
Crews from Bungay and Halesworth began fighting the flames at 7.06am and were joined by a team from Saxmundham minutes later.
Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus were also involved, and they managed to bring the incident under control just after 8am.
