A bin fire that caused a gas pipe to crack is being treated as arson with intent to endanger live.
Suffolk police has launched an investigation after someone pushed a wheelie bin against the wall of a house in Wollaston Road, Lowestoft, shortly after midnight on Friday, April 8 and then set fire to it.
The blaze caused rendering to fall from the wall, which in turn caused the main gas pipe into the property to fracture. A neighbour alerted the fire service and the blaze was extinguished before it caused further damage. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call Lowestoft CID on 01986 835300.
• A rubbish fire in Lovewell Road at 2.45am on April 9 is also being treated as arson.
