There is a full variety of music acts to keep the spirits high at this year's Lord Mayor's Celebrations – from one of Great Britain's top Take That tribute acts to local bands looking to show the talent we have in the area.

There will be five local bands the Chapelfield Gardens stage between 1pm and 4.30pm today, organised by BBC Norfolk Introducing.

First up will be Twisted Piglet, a young electro-rock band from the Diss area who won Bury Sound 2010 and were recently announced as a support act for Lulu at two of her summer concerts.

Interim Records are next on the bill, a group of artists brought together by producer and City College Norwich student Cee Jay, including hip hop artist C.O.L.L, reggae act Carleman and soul artist Chloe.

Norwich City fans may remember We Can't Dance for a song they released about former defender Gary Doherty. After releasing an EP three months, the Norwich band have been making a name for themselves recently and are expected to impress further today.

Established local performer Bearsuit then sneak in a set on their home patch, before speeding to the other side of the country to play at Reading Festival.

Then last but not least are eccentric folk group Cakes and Ale. The Norwich group have been building a big reputation with lots of quirky smaller gigs recently.

Gary Standley, BBC Norfolk Introducing producer, hopes that the local bands will prove a big hit this afternoon, saying: 'We are really excited with the line-up that we have put together.

'What we have tried to do is show what is going on in the local music scene in Norwich at the moment. And we think we have got a bit of something for everything.'

Following on from the local acts will be the evening main headline acts, Belleruche, Kasai Masai and The Magic of Take That.

London hip hop and blues soulsters Belleruche will bring their variety of genres to the stage between 5pm and 6pm before Kasai Masai brings the traditional sounds of Africa with an urban twist between 6.30pm and 7.30pm.

Then The Magic of Take That will take over Chapelfield Gardens from 8pm to 10pm on Saturday with Robbie Williams and Take That cover acts to complete the famous fivesome.

For those who then want to continue the party late into tonight, a Meltdown Mardi Gras Carnival rock night is on at The Waterfront, or for those looking for a relaxed Sunday, Norwich Pops Orchestra are performing The Magic of Musicals at St Andrew Hall and the 28-piece Cawston brass band will be on in Eaton Park, both at 3pm.
