A King's Lynn youth club is celebrating a breathing space after receiving a last minute cash lifeline from the newly-opened Asda store at South Wootton.
The Friday Club, at the town's Providence Street Youth Centre was facing the imminent threat of closure before bosses at the new supermarket stepped in with a timely cash donation.
The 700 donation, from Asda South Wootton, will enable the Friday Club to keep going for the next couple of months, as it looks to secure more permanent funding to keep its activities running.
'I can't tell you how grateful we are for Asda stepping in to save us', said lead youth support worker Tracy Spearing.
'Our members were so upset when they heard we might have to close, but the joy on their faces as they heard they are open for another couple of months thanks to Asda's gift just showed that they were over the moon'.
Stuart Thompson, who is the new store manager at Asda South Wootton, said: 'The well being of our local communities is so important to Asda, and supporting children such as those at the Friday Club is vital, so we didn't hesitate when we heard of their plight we decided to do all we could'.
