A couple have told of their delight at taking over their local pub, which they plan to turn into a thriving venue of live music, real ales and locally-produced food.
The Railway Tavern in Mellis, near Eye, was up for sale and under threat of closure until Frank Hill and his partner, Ester Deocampo, decided they would try their hand behind the bar.
Mr Hill, 47, who has lived in the village for 10 years after working as a DJ in London for 18 years, said the intention was to put on bands and entertainment every Saturday as well as quizzes, a beer festival, top-quality locally-sourced food and provide bed and breakfast accommodation.
'We want to put the Railway Tavern back on the map,' he said.
'This pub used to be a hotel, has a thriving history dating back to the 1800s, and was buzzing. There is no reason why it can't be again.'
Miss Deocampo, 37, an experienced waitress who moved to the UK three years ago from Cyprus, where she ran her family's restaurant, said: 'We have lots of plans to make the pub really welcoming, friendly and pretty and I am really enjoying meeting everyone.'
The new landlords are hosting an official launch party tomorrow night, starting at 8pm with live music and a buffet.
