An Edwardian seaside property that was used as a residential home for more than 45 years has been sold for 450,000 - and will become a private house for the first time in decades.
Meadow Cottage in Overstrand was converted in 1965 by Elizabeth FitzRoy Support as a 15-bed care home for adults with disabilities.
It was initially used in the 1960s as a holiday home by charity founder Elizabeth FitzRoy and her son Michael. But it closed last year, with its 14 residents moving to supported living homes in North Walsham and Hales.
Now estate agent Christie and Co has announced that the striking building has been sold.
The firm described it as 'complete with one acre of grounds, including an extensive garden and a huge parking area', and a 'characterful property delightfully located close to the stunning Norfolk coastline'.
Robert Mellamphy, who handled the sale at Christie's Ipswich office, said: 'This historic period property attracted interest from both care operators and those looking at it for alternative uses. The new owners will benefit from living in a charming property in a fabulous location.'
