A family from south Norfolk are celebrating raising more than 8,000 for two charities.

Nine members of the Thomas family, crossing three generations, took part in a charity skydive to raise money for Myeloma UK and the Weybourne ward of the Norfolk & Norwich University Hospital.

Among them was great-grandmother-of-three Hilda Thomas, of Denton, who participated aged 80.

Also taking part in the skydive at Ellough, near Beccles, was her son Chris Thomas, of Wortwell, who was the inspiration for the fundraising effort after the hospital and charity helped him when he was diagnosed with cancer.

Others who jumped were Mr Thomas' wife Cherryl, their daughter Sophie Fallon and her husband Martin. As well as Mr Thomas's youngest sister Jennie Crohill, along with other sister Rosie Fearnley, her son Robert and wife Sarah.

Nurse Amanda Hutchings from the Weybourne ward also took part.

Earlier this month, a roast lunch was held at Denton village hall where a cheque for 3,000 was presented to ward for new equipment to help haematology patients.

A group of women from Denton prepared and cooked the full Sunday lunch for 120 people, which were served by the skydiving family.

The lunch helped raise a further 890 and further fundraising activities are planned.
