Businesses and shop workers across Suffolk have been warned to be on the lookout for counterfeit notes after a number were used in the county.
In Beccles last Tuesday two portions of chips were bought in 10 minutes with fake 20 notes.
A fake 20 was also given for goods at a shop in Wangford on Saturday.
Similar incidents have happened in Aldeburgh, Saxmundham, Walberswick, Eyke and Woodbridge.
Police are asking all businesses to be careful and to check 20 notes carefully. The counterfeit notes are said to be on paper that has a different weight and texture to normal.
Anyone with any information is asked to call 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
