A farmer has pleaded not guilty to two charges of causing unnecessary suffering to his sheep.
David Fryatt, 68 of Peartree Farm, Tivetshall St Mary, appeared at Norwich Magistrates Court yesterday to face a private prosecution brought by Trading Standards.
Following two complaints against him regarding the conditions under which his herd of sheep were being kept, between May 2 and July 21 last year, Fryatt has been charged with two offences of causing unnecessary suffering to a protected animal under the Animal Welfare Act 2006.
The first, between July 15 and 21, accuses Fryatt of failing to arrange for veterinary treatment of severe fly strike and the second, on July 21, saw four lambs found emaciated.
Fryatt will return to the court on Tuesday, July 3, for a trial.
