A LOWESTOFT nightclub has been taken over by new owners who say they have 'exciting plans' for the venue.
Hush Hush has been purchased by business partners Jon Jackson and Andy Gotts, of Nouveau Leisure, who have 14 years' experience of working in nightspots across the country.
The club has now been temporarily closed before re-opening on Saturday, March 31.
Hush Hush has been a popular destination for young people in the Lowestoft area for 30 years and Mr Jackson said he and Mr Gotts had some major plans for the nightspot, which was previously The Arena and Hanks Bar.
He said: 'We are proud to be a part of what will always be such an incredible venue and such an integral part of Lowestoft folklore over the past 30 years, and honour its heritage in only the way it deserves.
'Over the coming months we have some exciting plans for Hush Hush and we will be showcasing some of the UK's biggest talent and bringing a taste of what is currently happening among some of the most premier venues nationwide.'
Hush Hush had been owned for the last 15 years by Lowestoft-based JV Trading, which previously ran Bridge Wine Bar in Oulton Broad, the Pipers Members Club in Carlton Colville and Lowestoft's Marquis of Lorne pub.
JV Trading will now concentrate on its core business, supplying drinks to more than 1,500 licensed outlets throughout East Anglia and will continue to run the Harbour Inn on Lowestoft seafront.
The company said this week that, after selling its four licensed premises in the last two years, it would continue to 'invest in an exciting new project of local importance, which will be unveiled soon'.
Mick Carver, managing director of JV Trading, which employs 60 staff and has a turnover of �16m, said: 'The sale of Hush Hush is great news for the town and its late night economy.
'Both Jon Jackson and Andy Gotts are creditable business people with vast nightclub experience. I am sure their development of the business will not only raise the bar of late night entertainment, but will also bring additional employment to the area.'
