The latest Norwich Original Fleamarket proved successful on Saturday, with over 1,000 buyers streaming through the doors of St Andrew's Hall.

Nearly 70 dealers had stalls offering everything from vintage buttons worth 50p, to antique furniture worth hundred of pounds.

The fleamarket coincided with the Queen's 86th birthday and the event was filmed as part of the Jubilee Journalist competition - run by the Evening News's sister paper, the EDP, alongside BBC Norfolk and Norfolk County Council - focusing on royal memorabilia through the years.

Helen Leith, the owner of the fleamarket, was interviewed by Kieran Raza, one of the Jubilee Journalist finalists, about the significance of the pieces on show.

The finished film will be shown on the big screen on Chapelfield Plain during the Queen's Diamond Jubilee weekend in early June.

Miss Leith said: 'I am delighted with the success of the fair. Everyone puts so much effort into it - the stallholders work really hard to provide a fabulous array of irresistible goodies - and the many hundreds of repeat visitors every month are testament to the quality of the fair and the wonderful goods on offer.

'I am not immune either! I bought a beautiful George III mother-of-pearl penknife for my father which I know he will love.'

The next fleamarket will be held on Saturday, May 19, between 9am and 4pm, with entry costing 1 and free for under-18s. For more details, go to www.cloistersfair.com
