A former fireman who crashed his car after drinking was banned from driving for 18 months today.
Laurence Breen of Old Hall Close, Saham Toney, crashed his Peugeot 206 into a ditch around 11.30pm on the A1075 near Stow Bedon on September 25 last year.
Norwich Magistrates' Court heard that the 38-year-old had drunk two cans of Fosters and a bottle of Budweiser with friends.
The initial police reading showed he was almost three times over the limit, a figure disputed by Breen.
He pleaded guilty on the basis the reading was 60 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath - the limit is 35 microgrammes.
Breen, who used to work as a sports coach, was also fined 150.
