Two artists specialising in creating artwork from recycled materials visited a Norfolk school to encourage the children to change their approach to recycling.
Rebecca Kemp, 26 and Gillie Bexfield, 56, both students at Norwich University College of the Arts, showed the youngsters in years three and four at Mulbarton Junior School seemingly mundane household waste objects such as plastic bottles could be used to create butterflies, flowers, bugs, cows and jellyfish.
The four-hour visit was part of the second year students' project for finding sustainable structures for growth and recycling and they are hoping to teach children across Norfolk about how they could change their approach to materials rather than throwing them away.
Rebecca, who lives in Mulbarton, said: 'We want people to think about reusing things. Don't just think it is a bottle. It is anything you want it to be.'
The children's work is being exhibited in a grotto at the bottom of the school playing field.
