The population of Wighton, near Wells, is being swelled over the bank holiday weekend as the village is staging its annual scarecrow weekend.
Some of the new residents have been trying out fishing in the village pond, while others have been popping up in various locations in the community.
The festival continues on bank holiday Monday and there is free entry and parking.
Donations will be gratefully received by official collectors and at official collection points
There is also a photographic display of villagers at work and play in the church, with an opportunity for villagers and visitors to decorate the church by leaving a simple posy of jam jar flowers as a thank you or demonstration of love to someone living or from the past.
The village charity cafe is open daily over the festival in the village hall from 10am to 4.30pm.
