Children at Swanton Morley Primary School received special commemorative coins and bookmarks today to celebrate the Queen's diamond jubilee.

The gold coin features the village sign on one side and a flag on the other and were provided by Swanton Morley Parish Council.

Council chairman Roger Atterwill gave out the gifts to the pupils during an assembly this morning.

The blue bookmarks with gold writing were provided by the school and chairman of the Friends of Swanton Morley Primary School, Julia Furse, presented them to the youngsters at the same time.

A jubilee lunch was held after the assembly and all the children were dressed in red, white and blue for the special occasion.

On Monday a traditional children's party will be taking place at Swanton Morley Village Hall from 3pm for youngsters aged 11 and under.

Throughout the day prizes will be given out for the best decorated house, hanging basket and jubilee children's art.

The finale of Swanton Morley's celebrations will be the lighting of the jubilee beacon at Swanton Morley Village Hall at 10.15pm.
