Norwich City legend Darren Eadie believes that Canaries fans are in for another exciting season in the Premier league and that they are more prepared than last time around.

Speaking at a summer sports event in the Castle Mall this afternoon, that is raising funds for Norfolk bereaved children's charity Nelson's Journey, Eadie seemed upbeat about the campaign ahead.

The former England Under-21 winger said: 'After the disappointment of losing Lambert, I think we've appointed someone who is more than capable of achieving the same if not better. After the previous season we're probably a little bit better prepared than this time last year.

'People talk about second season syndrome, but it's almost a new start again. We've got a new manager, new players coming in, it's like we're starting a fresh. I think they'll be all right.'

The 37-year-old, who had to retire from football at 28 years old due a persistent knee injury, was having a kick about in the sports cages with some local children and believes such events and all the sport this summer are incredibly important for getting children into the game.

Eadie, who left Carrow Road for Leicester City in a deal worth an estimated 3m in 1999, added: 'I've been really surprised by how well received the Olympics have been. There's no such power like a sports person and it can be incredibly inspiring to the kids.'
