A north Norwich building supplier has teamed up with city charity Sporting Light Appeal to be their new Business Champion for the next 12 months.

MKM, on Vulcan Road North, in Norwich, will run events and activities for the appeal, which is part of the Community Sports Foundation which aims to use sport to brighten the lives of people living with a disability.

With their trucks already carrying the charity's logo and having distributed information to customers based at the Norwich branch – the partnership is already under-way.

Fundraising officer Emma Fletcher said: 'Due to funding cuts in April last year, we were going to lose our disability backing, so decided to kick-start the Sporting Light Appeal. It started fairly small and since then it's grown and grown.'

She added: 'It's a real pleasure to welcome on board the team at MKM Building Supplies as a Business Champion.

'They are full of ideas and are clearly excited about fundraising for disadvantaged people and those with disabilities in our community.'

Gavin Lloyd-Thompson, branch director at MKM said: 'After seeing the excellent work the CSF do, we felt we have a real opportunity to give something back.

'We appreciate how important it is for local businesses to support the communities in which we live and work and the Sporting Light Appeal gives us a fantastic opportunity to do this.'
