A Loddon-based offshore energy business, which has seen extraordinary growth since it started in 2009, has opened a new support base.

Calecore, which is based in Little Money Road, Loddon, has established the new base, Geotechnical House, to meet the demand for offshore vehicles and overseas projects.

The 5,000sq ft facility, which is situated next to the firm's base in Loddon, includes warehousing, hydraulic and electrical work zones, and a large yard for vehicles.

Since it was established in 2009, the company has grown and it now employs 50 people.

Calecore includes three services: navigation, positioning and geophysical and hydrographic services company Calesurvey; Calegeo – a geotechnical focused marine survey and contracting trading division; and Calefleet, which employs and deploys master mariners, naval architects and specialist fabricators.

Sarah Cashmore, Calesurvey's general manager, said that most of their work was for the oil and gas industry, but they also worked with the offshore wind farm industry.

She said: 'With most assets now owned in-house, the need to have a dedicated and local base was pressing. 'I am very pleased with Geotechnical House and the ability to involve the field and mobilisation teams in our day-to-day operation, ensuring that we meet with and exceed our clients' expectations.'

The firm has also made a number of new appointments. Roger Smith has joined the company from Petrofac, as health and safety manager; Gary Moore has taken on full responsibility for quality and environmental requirements in his new role as quality manager, and Mike Grubb has been appointed as field resource and workshop manager.

Calecore has also been ISO 9001 and OHSAS 18001 accredited. It will implement an environment management system in 2013 with a view to gaining ISO 14001.

The company's headquarters is in Buxton, in the Peak District, but its operation base is in Norfolk.
