An intrepid six year old refused to be put off by relentless rain as he completed a 12-mile coastal walk yesterday.

Foul weather made it a miserable day in north Norfolk, but Jack Greves would not be discouraged, and set off from Cromer at 9.15am as planned.

Despite the rain continuing almost incessantly throughout the journey, he arrived at Cley at 3.45pm.

His mum Emily Greves, 32, said he had already raised more than 500, and the figure was set to climb in the coming days.

Last year, Jack climbed Stickle Tarn in the Lake District for Children in Need 2011 and raised 75.

Jack, who attends Astley Primary School at Briston, trained for the big day by going on walks with his family. He is also a keen footballer and added that the only thing he was not looking forward to was walking on the rocks and sand.

He said: 'I will be happy with whatever I raise for Children in Need and I am pleased that I have already raised enough money to pay for a bed for a disadvantaged child.'
