An unusual type of sport was taking place at Great Yarmouth Racecourse yesterday afternoon.
Between the serious races, a range of colourful mascots, including ones from local holiday parks, lined up under starter's orders.
The handicap was the costumes in the sweltering sunshine – but the zany spectacle certainly enthralled the packed crowds who came for the August family fun day.
A course spokesman said it was their big day for families. Other entertainment included a children's entertainer, face painting, bouncy castle, donkey rides, children's races on the race track and an adventure playground.
