Outrageous onesies have been worn, cakes have been baked, games have been played and wacky events have been held across Lowestoft today – as people raise money for an annual charity drive.
With a fund-raising bug sweeping across the country, as Children in Need fever returns, hundreds of people in Waveney have been joining forces with others across the UK to raise valuable funds for good causes.
At Ormiston Denes Academy in Lowestoft, more than £630 has already been raised. Students all donated £1 each to wear non-uniform for the day - and as these pictures show the youngsters from a mixture of age groups are all enjoying themselves.
The academy, in Yarmouth Road, also organised a cake sale, with a selection of delicious cakes baked by the students proving popular as they sold out in minutes.
But in the mix of all the excitement, for one year 11 student, Deanna Provis, silence has proved to be golden. For Deanna started a three-day sponsored silence this morning to raise funds – and she has already raised £240 for the worthy cause.
Julie Durrant, press officer at the academy, said: 'We have had a fantastic day today. The atmosphere was buzzing with enthusiasm for our support of such a worthwhile cause. Our thanks go to all the students and staff that supported us.'
Other schools across Lowestoft and Waveney have also held non-uniform days, with youngsters at Gunton Primary School joining in the fund-raising fun.
Pupils in years five and six have been running activities such as bake sales, games, non-uniform, a pyjama day and fancy dress.
There was even a special 'place a penny on Pudsey's bandana,' which proved popular as it attracted attention from all of the key stages at the school in Gainsborough Drive.
Tonight, the 14th Lowestoft Scout Group will also be taking part in the annual fund-raiser. Intrepid scout members will be preparing for a night in their sleeping bags, as they hear some ghostly tales of haunted Lowestoft during a sleep-in at the Sgt Peppers restaurant in High Street.
And tomorrow, at Barnard's Meadow in Lowestoft, youngsters and coaches from the Saturday Football Club, which is run by Waveney FC, will go dotty for Pudesy. They will be hosting a special fun morning to raise monies for Children in Need.
