The Queen braved the rain and cold to attend the Sunday morning church service at St Peter's Church in Wolferton.

There were some happy faces after Her Majesty stopped to greet children and collect gifts of flowers after the service.

The 87-year-old Monarch wore a pale apricot coat and matching hat as she arrived at the village church in her Bentley.

The Queen was accompanied to the service, which lasted around an hour, by the Duke of Edinburgh.

After the service the Queen smiled as she greeted the crowd that had gathered outside the church and collected gifts of flowers from youngsters.

Among those who gave posies to Her Majesty were Charlie, 6, and Alice Butler, 8, who had travelled with their parents from Acle to see the Queen.

Charlie said: 'It was good to see the Queen, she said 'thank you' for the flowers.

'I can't remember how many times I've seen her before it must be about three or four.'

His sister Alice said: 'I was very excited she thanked me and was very nice.'

The Queen and the Duke were accompanied to the service by a large party which included former defence minister Sir Nicholas Soames.
