The Queen left King's Lynn train station for London King's Cross this morning, after her winter break at her country retreat at Sandringham.

The Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh had arrived in King's Lynn about a week before Christmas.

The Duke is believed to have stayed behind at Sandringham as he has an engagement in the area tonight.

The Royals attended their last service at the Church of St Mary Magdalen, on the Sandringham Estate, yesterday.

The 87-year-old Monarch's arrival in King's Lynn station and then her subsequent departure have become a familiar sight in recent years.

Her estate boasted its own Royal Station, at Wolferton, until the King's Lynn to Hunstanton line was closed in 1969.
