King's Lynn Town will round off their Evo-Stik Premier Division home fixtures today when local rivals Stamford visit The Walks, and manager Gary Setchell is urging his troops to sign off in style in front of their own fans.

The Linnets collected a point from a disappointing scoreless draw at relegated Stocksbridge Park Steels in South Yorkshire on Saturday.

The Linnets secured their second successive away clean sheet Sheffield in the first part of their Easter double bill.

For much of the encounter both sides appeared, at times, to be going through the motions to serve up typical end-of-season fare to a crowd made up mainly of visiting supporters.

Lynn's best chance of claiming all three points fell to Ewan Clarke. The striker, given a rare start, must have thought he had scored with a bullet header from close range minutes from the end but home keeper Ben Scott – remembered for assisting with a spectator taken ill at The Walks in August – produced an outstanding save on his final game before retirement.

Ryan Fryatt made a 45-minute appearance, his first since early March, following suspension and injury.

Setchell is demanding more from his team today, saying: 'That was a very, very low quality game. It was frustrating and I doubt if there has been a worse game to watch in the league today. I expect a lot better than that and we have a chance to correct that on Monday.'

Stamford arrive in Town sitting in 16th spot and Setchell is well aware of the threats the Lincolnshire side contain.

'They will be in our faces from the start with high energy and aggression. I know (ex-Linnet) David Staff well and he will have his players well up for the occasion.'

Stamford inflicted a three-goal defeat on the Linnets on Boxing day but on their last Walks visit a Shane Tolley brace ensured a home victory for what turned out to be the launch pad for Lynn's championship winning season.

'That was a pivotal moment for us,' continued Setchell. 'Obviously now we cannot do that with only a couple of matches remaining but we can put a marker down and have a base in place for next season.

'I am very keen to go out on a winning note in front of our own supporters. Their support has been appreciated throughout the season, both home and away, and a derby victory would hopefully leave a few fond memories with them on what has been a steep learning curve of a season.'

The draw at Stocksbridge keeps Lynn in 11th place, with the highest potential finish now being eighth, currently occupied by Blyth Spartans with four more points.
