A Father's Day beer festival weekend will have special significance for a Waveney couple as their pub has just been voted Suffolk CAMRA's rural pub of the year.

Matt and Jemma Mills have been owners of the Shadingfield Fox for the past seven years and have built up a fine reputation for their ales and their food.

'We are delighted and proud to receive this CAMRA award. With great local support we have seen our ales become increasingly popular,' said Mr Mills.

'This is an achievement not only for us but for our dedicated staff as well who we would like to thank.' The pub always has six real ales on offer but for the beer festival weekend, which began yesterday, at least 11 different real ales will be available.

Mr Mills said: 'We have two beer festivals a year which are always popular. The pub is now open all day on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays so we are delighted that CAMRA officials will be coming to the pub on Saturday lunchtime to present the award.'
