Emergency procedures were activated at Lowestoft's Bascule bridge this morning (Friday) after a young man jumped over the structure as it was lifting.
The bridge was lifting at 11.15am when the male went through a stop barrier at the northern end of the crossing and jumped over the gap left by the bridge onto the other side.
Associated British Ports (ABP) staff had to activate emergency stop procedures leading to a 10 minute delay in the bridge operations.
Roger Arundale, from ABP said the youth was possibly of school age.
Mr Arundale said the male could have ended up unconscious in Lake Lothing from his stunt and that it had inconvenienced motorists and pedestrians waiting for the A12 to re-open.
