Young wordsmiths will be taking to the stage this weekend in a special event celebrating emerging writers.
Debut - part of this year's Hostry Festival - is at City College Norwich's Platform Theatre tomorrow afternoon.
It will feature 10 young Norfolk writers aged 13 to 20 who will present new work they have created especially for the show.
Melanie Kidd, Debut's project coordinator, said the project aimed to create a platform for young talent and that the programme would include a variety of songs, poetry, short stories, flash fiction and dramatic text.
She said: 'I wanted to offer the young writers and musicians not just an opportunity to perform, but also a chance to develop their writing and encourage confidence in their talent. We have an incredibly creative group of young writers involved in Debut, all of who have very diverse voices and styles.'
The young people taking part are: singer-songwriter Amber Allen, 13, from Norwich; singer-songwriter Ruby Carter, 13, from Norwich; singer-songwriter Rianne Francis Collins, 20, from Bowthorpe; short story writer William Eason, 14, from Old Catton; radio play writer Charlie Fulcher Baker, 14, from Norwich; singer-songwriter Kerry Hardesty, 17, from Bergh Apton; singer-songwriter Kate Maguire Buck, 14, from Beccles; creative writer Hoshi Morris, 14, from Ingworth; short story writer Michael Palser, 14, from Norwich; and flash fiction writer Tom Waghorn, 14, from Loddon.
Stash Kirkbride, founder and artistic director of the Hostry Festival, said: 'The Debut event captures everything that is unique about the Hostry Festival. We create shows; we do not buy them in. Debut is a project that is creating new work right here in Norwich. I believe it fits perfectly into the festival programme and helps celebrate the exciting arts scene we have here in Norwich.'
The project is funded through Arts Council England's Grants for the Arts scheme and supported by Writers' Centre Norwich and City College Norwich, part of the Transforming Education in Norfolk (the TEN Group) federation.
