An award-winning Norwich jeweller, which is raising money for the 'Nook Appeal', has raised 10pc of its £50,000 pledge in just one month.

The appeal was launched by the Duchess of Cambridge at the Norfolk Showground last month.

Since then, dozens of events have been planned and pledges made to help East Anglia's Children's Hospices , which cares for the region's seriously sick children, raise £10m to build a new hospice, called the nook in Framingham Earl, near Norwich, while it continues to provide and develop services at Quidenham.

Sarah Latache, from Winsor Bishop in London Street, said: 'We kicked off the fundraising for EACH with a sparkling Christmas party.

'We opened our purple doors to Norwich for a funday of festivities including a snow machine and a 'wish post box' – one winner will have their dream come true on Christmas Eve.

'Customers donated to EACH for carol singing, wreath making and bauble decorating amongst other things. 'And Winsor Bishop sold jewellery, all of which was donated to the appeal.'

The new hospice will provide local children and families in Norfolk access to the very best of services in a purpose-built environment.

EACH is calling on individuals, companies, schools, communities and charitable trusts across the county to be part of the project, by organising events and activities, making donations and helping to raise public awareness for the project.

Norfolk fundraiser at EACH, Carol Plunkett said: 'We are extremely excited to be working with a highly respected company such as Winsor Bishop, which also demonstrates a strong community presence.

'It's going to be an interesting time but with the support from the local community, we are confident that Norfolk will rise to the challenge and help us achieve our dream for children with life-threatening conditions.'

The charity is encouraging people to donate £10 this Christmas to the appeal, which is backed by the Eastern Daily Press.
