Birds will have a field day in and around Martham when scarecrows abandon their alarming work and flock to the village for its annual festival.
Now in its eighth year the popular event has grown to include yarn bombing and garage/garden sales with visitors invited to spot knitted novelties adorning the village at various surprise locations.
Organisers say the event is going from strength to strength and have produced a map plotting the site of every straw-stuffed effigy and woolly wonder.
Previous entries have included celebrity look-a-likes with local folk taking up the challenge and testing their grey matter to come up with such diverse entries as Smurfs, a sun-bathing beauty and even a stuffed spider in his web of thread.
The event takes place over May 3 and 4, bank holiday weekend,
A spokesman paid tribute to the hard work and commitment of the residents, organisations and businesses that have designed the varying forms of scarecrows and worked hard with their knitting needles and hooks to produce some lovely yarn bombing with a surprise around every corner and in places you would least expect.
Attractions also include a marquee with charity and craft stalls on The Green, treasure hunt, raffle and lucky dip.
Elsewhere in the village there will be a flower festival on a theme of children's books in the Methodist Church, an art exhibition in St Mary's Church and a chance to climb the tower.
Cornerstone Baptist Church will be hosting refreshments and there will be a table top sale at Martham Village Hall. Young people from Dragon's Stage and Theatre School and 901 will stage performances and the Chainsaw Wood Carvers will display their artistry at the back of the Victoria Inn pub.
Classic car owners will be buffing their bonnets ahead of a display on Monday only and Martham Fire Station in Rollesby Road will host a charity car wash on Sunday 10-3pm.
Fairground rides will add to the festival feel.
Ahead of the event which has become a highlight in the community calendar organisers thanked the residents of Martham for their scarecrows, yarn bombing and garden/garage sales, the businesses of Martham for opening over the weekend and for their sponsorship and help in promoting the two day festival.
There was also praise for the churches and village hall for joining with their exhibitions and refreshments, charity and craft stall holders and Martham Parish Council for their support as well as to the public who converge on the village delighting everyone who had put in so much effort to make it happen.
Liz Carpenter said more stalls than ever had booked on the 'little' Green with the Co-op advertising the festival through all its branches and local businesses coming on board to provide cash prizes for winners. Donation include a giant teddy which will be sold by silent auction and around 100 people have already entered figures they hope will wow the judges.
Parking will be available at Martham Primary School on Black Street, Martham.
Money raised will support local good causes. Last year's proceeds paid for the refurbishment of the village sign.
