Friends and members of six nearby churches in West Norfolk donated their own plants towards a special fundraiser at St Mary Magdalene Church in Sandringham.

Many even donated plants they had grown themselves for the plant sale, which raised around £1,400 for the churches in Castle Rising, Flitcham, Hillington, Sandringham, West Newton and Wolferton.

The selection included a wide variety of shrubs, perennials and bedding plants. Home grown produce including vegetables and herbs were also available.

Jayne Windsor organised the sale with fellow church member Jackie Christensen.

She said: 'Many of the plants donated were unusual plants which you wouldn't normally find in a garden centre because they were grown at home.

'In the end, we sold out completely. It's lovely to think that our plants from Norfolk are being planted all around the county, and indeed the country, as the sale was very popular with visitors to Sandringham.

'Thank you to everyone for helping make this such a success.'

Rev Jonathan Riviere, the Rector of Sandringham, opened Saturday's event. The Sandringham Visitor Centre Plant Shop, Sandringham Estate and Wards Nurseries also donated towards the plant sale.
