Following in the tradition of making a difference locally, Great Yarmouth Round Table has joined forces with the Jay Jones Charity for Sick Children to buy much needed equipment for the Neonatal Unit at the James Paget University Hospital.

Made up of £5000 from the Jay Jones charity and £6000 from the GYRT's 2015 Turkey Ball fundraising, the £11,000 donation will be used to purchase a BabyTherm infant warming system for the unit.

Josephine Baker, ward manager, said: 'It's fabulous to have the continued support of both the Jay Jones Charity for Sick Children and the Great Yarmouth Round Table. This new equipment will help us to deliver vital care to new-born babies.'

The BabyTherm system will enable staff on the ward to deliver the best possible care and attention without interrupting the much needed warmth babies need to have maintained.

Scott Cozens, Great Yarmouth Round Table past Chairman said: 'It's great that the monies raised from our events go towards make a big difference in the local area. By teaming up with the Jay Jones charity I know that this equipment will help make caring for these new-borns that little bit easier.'

The local Round Table fundraising activities continue when the Valentines Turkey Ball returns to the Ocean Room on Saturday, February 13 2016.
