A paramedic was allegedly punched shortly before the start of the New Year in Norwich.
Just after 11pm, Matt Broad, assistant chief officer for Norfolk, Suffolk and Cambridgeshire at the East of England Ambulance, tweeted: 'What is wrong with some people? 1 of my paramedics has been punched by an intoxicated male in Norwich.'
Police sergeant Mark Shepherd responded: 'Disgusting behaviour Matt. We are on our way.'
The ambulance service's duty locality officer tweeted that the paramedic was not injured.
Mr Broad later tweeted that the man involved in the incident was 'now with colleagues from Norfolk police'.
It is believed that one man has been arrested.
