The A140 at Roughton is now re-open after a crash involving 12 vehicles closed the road for nearly five hours this morning.
A spokesperson at Norfolk Police confirmed that the road was cleared at 12:30pm after recovery vehicles worked to remove damaged cars from the scene.
Emergency services were called to the scene at 7.25am this morning. Fire appliances from Cromer and Sheringham helped release a person trapped in a car. A police spokesman said nobody was believed to be seriously injured and an ambulance crew treated people at the scene.
It was just one of 12 crashes across the county as freezing temperatures overnight left a dangerous amount of ice on the roads.
Police were called just before 7.20am to reports of three cars involved in a collision on the A148 at Bodham. A police spokesman said the vehicles appeared to have come off the road separately in the same location and that nobody was believed to have been injured.
At 7.30am police were called to Belaugh Road in Hoveton after a car hit a telegraph pole. A fire crew from Wroxham released the driver from the car who is believed to have minor injuries.
Fire crews from Heacham and Hunstanton were called to Sedgeford after a one vehicle collision. They released one person from the vehicle and assisted police and the East of England Ambulance Service with casualty care.
One person was taken to hospital with minor injuries after a two vehicle collision on the B1454 at Docking at 7.45am. The road was shut for over two hours whilst emergency services cleared the vehicles from the scene.
At 8am police were called to the A1075 at Wretham near to the railway crossing after a car left the road and ended up in a field. Norfolk Fire Service attended and released the driver from the car. The driver is believed to have minor injuries.
In Salhouse a car overturned on Stonehouse Road, Broadland Police said.
There were also been collisions at: Lower Street, Salhouse; Edgefield and the Barnham Broom crossroads.
A Norfolk Police spokesman said of driving in icy conditions: 'Police would like to remind drivers to allow extra time for your journey and drive at a sensible speed. Leave appropriate distances between yourself and other road users. Accept your journey will take longer and don't take risks.'
