An inquest into the death of an 'inspirational' teacher has been opened and adjourned.
Anthony Benson-Smith, 45, from Lowestoft, was killed in a two-car crash on the B1062 Beccles Road in Mettingham on Friday, January 8.
A devoted father of five and loving husband to Emma, his family described him as 'a highly-respected, dedicated and inspirational teacher.'
The inquest opening at Lowestoft Coroner's Court on Tuesday heard that Mr Benson-Smith – a deputy headteacher at Bungay Primary School – 'sustained serious injuries' in the collision 'and died as a result at the scene.' The cause of death was given as 'multiple injuries' resulting from the 'road traffic collision.'
Assistant coroner for Suffolk, Nigel Parsley, said: 'I will open the inquest into the tragic death of Anthony Benson-Smith and adjourn it to April 26, 2016.'
