February 29th is the day when, according to tradition, women can pop the question to their significant other. To celebrate, we've compiled a list of five of the most unusual wedding proposals in Norfolk.
•Flash mob Proposal, Norwich
On June 13 2015, Josh proposed to Abbie in Norwich city centre with a little help from Invidia Voices, the Rock and Soul Choir. This was the first ever flashmob proposal in Norwich and consisted of 100 choir members belting out Everlasting Love by Love Affair. In total the proposal took two months to plan and was a success as she said yes. A video of it was viewed thousands of times on YouTube and Facebook.
•Love is in the air, Lowestoft
A couple from Lowestoft took their proposal to new heights last June after Mohammud Ali popped the question using a banner attached to a plane to ask 'Will u marry me?' The banner could be seen over Pakefield Beach and Miss Rabhi, the bride to be gladly accepted his proposal.
•Taking the Plunge, Great Yarmouth
Not many people expect to be surrounded by sharks when being proposed to, but that's exactly what happened to Joy when her partner Michael Cook took the plunge. In a walkthrough underwater tunnel in Great Yarmouth Sea Life Centre, Cook had two skilled divers produce a banner underwater, among sharks and turtles, asking Joy to accept his hand in marriage.
•Premier League Proposal, Norwich
One football fan found a clever way to combine his love of the game and his love for his partner at a Norwich vs. Chelsea game on January 21 2012. During half-time, Karl Hayward proposed to his girlfriend very publicly via a message over the stadium speaker system.
•Social Media Matchmaking, West Lynn
Damien Cross met his girlfriend on social media and when proposing decided to turn to Twitter to ask the all important question. Cross sent a series of tweets to his partner, Miss Badkin using the hashtag #wymm with photos attached of himself on one knee, surrounded by family members holding paper letters to spell out 'will you marry him?' In response Miss Badkin sent him a selfie holding a sign saying yes.
