A £64,000 CCTV project designed to cut crime on Lowestoft's lower promenade has been officially unveiled.
The full length of the lower promenade is now being monitored 24 hours a day after Suffolk's Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC), Tim Passmore, switched on the third and final camera to be installed during a ceremony held at Waveney Norse's CCTV control room.
The beach huts on the lower promenade have been repeatedly targeted by vandals, costing Sentinel Leisure Trust up to £45,000 to repair every year.
The lower promenade was also a long standing CCTV blind spot, where criminals could go to escape the view of the existing cameras on the upper promenade.
It is hoped the new cameras, which are fitted with spotlights so they can be used at night, will reduce crime in the area and help catch the perpetrators.
