Work has started at Hopton beach where a holiday resort is spending £3m on sea defences.
More than 5,500 tonnes of granite rock, each one weighing between three and eight tonnes, will be lined on the beach to protect the Potters Resort from coastal erosion.
A Norwegian flat-topped barge arrived on Wednesday night and dumped the rocks in dump zones, where they will then be moved into place by diggers.
Potters Resort managing director John Potter said: 'It is good to see everything starting to come into place.
'There has been significant erosion in Hopton in recent years and the sea wall is failing northwards from us.
'So we are doing the work to protect the resort for future generations and before it would eventually fail.'
The once wide sandy beach at Hopton has been subjected to significant erosion in recent years.
Councillors approved plans for a holiday resort to finance the defence scheme in February.
A similar project has been built at Bourne Leisure resort, north of the Potters site, at a cost of around £8m.
