Norfolk's new police and crime commissioner has cast his eye over a group of 'cool' cadets, after he visited a town's police station.

Lorne Green was at Thetford Police station on Thursday to meet with the town's group of Police Cadets.

He said he was impressed with their efforts.

'I was honoured to have the opportunity to meet with Thetford's police cadets. I can tell you they are an impressive group of young people,' he said.

'They are important role models in their schools and community and give us great encouragement for the future.

'These are young people of great commitment and talent.

'This is what it means to be 'cool'. All young people take note.'

Thetford pioneered the cadet scheme when Norfolk Police launched its first group in 2013.

Ch Insp Paul Wheatley, Breckland Police, said he was proud of the cadets.

'It was a pleasure to welcome Lorne Green to Thetford to see the cadets.

'There are now four units in the county, the latest being in Norwich and it's great to see young people involved in community activities, and learning at the same time about policing issues,' he said.
