Power has been restored to most of the 211 homes in Hethersett that saw an outage earlier this evening.

UK Power Networks said the problem, which was reported just before 5.30pm, affected 211 homes, with the problem initially expected to be fixed by about 7.30pm.

A later update said about 70 homes would be without power until 10.30pm, although by 8.30pm just two homes were waiting to be reconnected.

They said an underground cable faulted on the high voltage network, causing an 'area-wide' power cut.

At about 5.40pm, Norfolk police tweeted to say the traffic lights at Thickthorn roundabout were not working - although they have since posted to say this was a mistake and that the lights are working as usual.
