Police are today investigating the horrific crash, which happened on the A1065 at Castle Acre, near Swaffham, yesterday.
A teenage girl was pronounced dead at the scene of the collision, while a woman in her 50s was airlifted to Addenbrooke's Hospital.
They are believed to have been running along the road immediately beforehand.
A police spokesman said: 'Officers were called at 9.20am to reports of a collision between a white lorry and two pedestrians on the A1065.
'One of the pedestrians, a teenage girl, was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.
'The other pedestrian, a woman in her 50s, was taken by air ambulance to Addenbrooke's Hospital where she remains in a critical but stable condition.'
The pair are believed to live near the spot where the tragedy occurred, on a straight stretch of road around half a mile north of the former George and Dragon pub.
One villager, who asked not to be named, said the women could often be seen out running around the area.
An East of England Ambulance spokesman said: 'We received a call today at 9.20am to reports of a serious RTC involving two pedestrians on the A1605 at West Lexham.
'We sent two rapid response vehicles, two ambulance crews, an ambulance officer and two helicopters from the East Anglian Air Ambulance. Both patients sustained very serious injuries following the collision.'
The A1065 was closed between the junctions with Castle Acre Road and the B1145 for six hours.
