A 26-year-old man pulled unconscious and not breathing from the water at Sea Palling is reported to be recovering in hospital.
A spokesman for the East of England Ambulance Service Trust said the man was out of intensive care at Addenbrooke's Hospital, Cambridge, and continuing his recovery on a ward.
The man was rescued on Saturday morning by 14-year-old holidaymaker David Castleman after he and an older man got caught in a rip current.
The younger victim was resuscitated on the beach by members of the public and emergency services personnel before being airlifted to hospital.
The older man, 52-year-old Leszek Puchala, from Poland, was rescued by Norwich man Neil Ramsay but was pronounced dead at the scene.
A Norwich inquest which opened into his death yesterday heard that he was on holiday in England, staying with his son. A full inquest is due to be held on October 28.
