Footballers and families went World Cup crazy as a special community event was hailed a success.
As the country marked the 50th anniversary of England lifting the trophy on Saturday, Waveney FC staged a special 1966 World Cup-themed day at their Barnards Meadow ground in Lowestoft yesterday (July 30).
The club was the only Suffolk outfit chosen to receive a grant of £1,966 legacy funding from The FA – one of 66 pots to support community projects at grassroots level across the country.
With 11 main football-related activities – including American football, a penalty shoot-out, football tennis, a crossbar challenge, football cricket and a relay race – the day catered for under-7s to adults.
