Police have arrested a man and a woman following an incident in Great Yarmouth which led to the seizure of what is believed to be a firearm.
Eyewitnesses reported seeing armed police and police dogs during the incident at a terraced property on Marine Parade, near the pier, this evening.
Police said they entered the property just before 7.30pm.
A spokesman said: 'An item believed to be a firearm was seized at the property.
'Both the man and the woman have been taken to Great Yarmouth Police Investigation Centre for questioning. Officers are not looking for anyone else in connection with the incident.'
One eyewitness, who asked not to be named, said: 'We were walking down the sea front towards Joyland and I saw it and went over, and as I went past they were taking someone out and putting her in a police car.
'There are a lot of people standing and watching. Police are just standing guard now, but they have cordoned it off.'
She said she later saw two police officers come out of the property, carrying red battering rams.
She added that, at first, she counted at least eight police cars and vans at the scene, but by 8.15pm most had left, with three remaining at the scene.
Police dogs left the scene at 8.25pm.
She said that no other emergency services appeared to be involved in the operation.
One Twitter user, James Cossey, who runs a photography concession at nearby Joyland, wrote: 'Armed police in Yarmouth... It's quite normal to see this many police but not with guns...'.
He said: 'The volume of police was absolutely insane. There were so many cars, and then more cars joined them.
'Even when I drove home from work there were lots of police there, and an increased volume of police in the area.
'When you see that volume of police, it has a lot of people drawn to it. When they had a lot of people, that's when they got the police tape out and cordoned off the whole section.
'There must have been 50 people out there, and people walking past stayed for the duration.'
