It could once have been mistaken for a crumbling piece of wall, unloved and untouched.
But now there can be no missing this restored milestone, which stands proudly on the edge of one of the main routes into King's Lynn.
Hundreds of motorists pass the milestone on Wootton Road next to Gaywood Bridge every day, and it is understood to be about 250 years old.
Fred Cooke, a member of the Castle Rising History Group, made it his mission earlier this year to raise awareness of the historical artefact's significance and help protect it for the future.
He said: 'It's painted white now so it's much more conspicuous, whether it's like the original I don't know, certainly people are much more aware of it.
'Now it's a historical structure which will be maintained and that's all to the good.'
The little landmark was returned to its former glory by the Milestone Restoration
Society.
Member Nigel Ford said: 'Milestones are very much part of our heritage and we need to restore them so future generations can enjoy them.'
