A man was taken to hospital after being struck by at train on the line between Norwich and Brundall Gardens on Wednesday afternoon.
British Transport Police were called to the level crossing at Bungalow Lane in Thorpe St Andrew at 12pm following reports of a man being hit by a train.
The East of England Ambulance Service sent an ambulance crew, a rapid response vehicle, two ambulance officers and the East Anglian Air Ambulance was dispatched.
The man, believed to be in his 70s, had suffered a back injury and was taken to the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital for further treatment. His injuries are not thought to be serious or life threatening.
A spokesperson for British Transport Police confirmed they are not treating the incident as suspicious.
The incident caused delays of up to an hour on trains between Norwich, Great Yarmouth, Cromer, Sheringham and Cambridge.
