Princess Anne will visit Norfolk tomorrow (Wednesday) to mark a significant point in the transition of the former RAF base into an enterprise park.

Accompanied by the Deputy Lieutenant Richard Butler, Her Royal Highness will be given a tour of Scottow Enterprise Park to learn about the businesses and how they are benefitting from being on site.

She was originally due to visit in March but was forced to reschedule after becoming unwell.

To date the Enterprise Park has 62 tenants, nine of which are start-up businesses, and has helped to create and safeguard 112 jobs.

The council paid £4m for the 600-acre base, which closed in 2006, pledging to boost businesses and create jobs.

The visit will focus on the redevelopment of the former RAF Coltishall site as well as the positive effect it is having on the tenants and the local community.

Scott Cogman, operations manager at Hethel Innovation, said: 'This event will mark a significant point in the transition of the former RAF base into an Enterprise Park for local businesses.'

Princess Anne will be welcomed by the High Sheriff of Norfolk, Sir William Cubitt; the chairman of North Norfolk Council, John Lee; the chairman of Norfolk County Council, David Collis; and the managing director at Hethel Innovation, Simon Coward.

She will meet a small group of individuals who have been responsible for developing one of the largest field of solar panels in the country and see first-hand how Scottow Enterprise Park aims to engage with the local community by meeting the team behind the Gamechangers and Activate Workshops.

These workshops are aimed at both start-up businesses and high school students and aim to gain wider involvement from local communities in business.

The visit will conclude with a group of key individuals who are currently supporting the park, including Davina Tanner from the Anglia Local Enterprise Partnership who will explain how the park will benefit the neighbouring community.

A spokesperson for the council said: 'It is hoped that this visit will continue to stimulate interest in Scottow Enterprise Park and reaffirm the long term commitment to the businesses on site and that in years to come the provide a location that can be appreciated and enjoyed, not just by local businesses, but by the local community at large.'
